Original American Hooked Rugs Made Today

American hooked rugs have a long history. These rugs were crafted by hand using rags or some sort of fabrics and were usually made in homes. The traditional American hooked rug possesses a certain charm and character that is not so easily reproduced in today's rugs. Today, most hooked rugs are made in China and are not even tied and looped as they used to be. Here, the fiber is attached to a latex backing and it is the glue that keeps the rug together. This glue has been known to wear off and disintegrate.
Today, there is one type of American Hooked Rug still made in the old fashioned American way. This American hooked rug is made after original designs of years ago and made using real wool and cotton fabrics with natural, vegetable dyes. The beauty of these American hooked rugs is that they are still made by hand using materials of the original process and the outcome is amazing.
Customers have been commenting to me about how this American hooked rug collection resembles the original hooked rugs and my comment to this is that they are virtually the same except for the fact that they are made today. We have captured the old American way of weaving these hooked rugs, along with original designs and some new, all of this is blended in colors for today's market. I tell customers that this is the modern American hooked rug and modern in the sense that it can virtually blend with any home decor.
For those of you readers interested in the original American hooked rugs of the past, there are two ways to obtain them. The first is by trying to find an original, which can often be time consuming and expensive. The second way of finding a true American hooked rug is by visiting Kaoud Carpets and Rugs and clicking through our collections.
